Did the first coat of stripper and the plastic was loose.

Then the whole thing got rust converter.

Some final body work to go in prep for etch... bang out a few old dings and remove old body filler, straighten a few areas... hopefully get the etch on in the next week or two...

Shop got sidetracked a bit finishing up the '13 (19 not 20!) Vulcan for a show in Melb. But the final body prep and some etch has now been done.

One significant crease in the LH rear 1/4, thus the heavy filler, but they really did a great job straightening out the original metal. There will be minimal bog once its done, a few dings in the fender lip that are just really hard to get out, 20 cent piece size... and a bit in the remnants of the crease. Nice that it is all FoMoCo metal!

And the removable panels are in etch and due for final prep for primer. Hopefully the body will get etch in the next two weeks.

Mert is a concourse man... my guess is that it will be painted whatever colour is on the body plate!

More "original" than concours, don't do stickers and paint daubs...

As a fairly original car will go back to Wimbledon White, but will add hood stripes in black which were not original.

Think they will tie in real well with the black vinyl roof, interior and stripes....

Engine is coming back together, bodywork is pretty much done and its getting primer next week...

Engine is repainted, manifolds blasted and hit with Cast Blast as they were just too grotty to clean. Some parts are just cleaned as I am trying to not go too overboard.

The PS pump cleaned up pretty well, needs a bit more TLC. And I am debating paint or not. I can color match and repaint for about $100, but it appears to be a fairly untouched PS pump, so as "its only original once". the only bummer is a couple big scratches and rust right up top. I kinda like all the runs and how it looks, but am thinking it may look out of place agasint the newly painted engine bay and block....

Comments, suggestions ??? as I keep waffling...

Keep waffling on mert.
Is that the original colour on a 68 P/S pump then ?
Always thought they were black.
Enjoying the updates.

Nice work Mert. That engine looks fantastic. I also have only ever seen the PS pump in black..
I will someday think of something clever to say.

Paint the pump. Not as if it is "concourse" as the engine is not painted in the original "style". It all looks very neat & will "look the goods" when all together.
