Great, I'll torque it to 40 ft/lbs when done. Didn't get any captive nuts with my plate, pretty slack considering it cost me $70 from Harry. Scott Drake again. I'll buy some captive nuts, they're probably cheap from my bolt supplier. Just found out, the nuts I used from the battery tray are called J nuts.

The J nuts will be fine, no need to change them. I have used the same thing many times.Edz66Vert wrote:Great, I'll torque it to 40 ft/lbs when done. Torque to the settings. More is not better.

I'll have to use captive nuts, the j nuts are a bit long and push the bracket up too much.ozbilt wrote:The J nuts will be fine, no need to change them. New toy finally arrived, I was hoping to use it before I sent the brake brackets off to be waterjet cut. Oh well, I'll find other uses for it, tested it printing a rabbit??
My other toys I've used this week, nice to be 4 minutes from work with 24hr access. Pity thr cnconly does wood and aluminium, could use it to make a billet dash if I could be bothered?

Nice. I once had access to gear like that - makes it easier.
I will someday think of something clever to say.
Re: Edz 66 Convertible
Sorry, meant 30 ft/lbs for the steering wheel. Hey Nutts, good thing you know what you're doing with autos, got Dan's kit, the plates easy, but the VB comes with heaps of o'rings and other bits. Lucky he has given us some good instructions. Are you available Sunday, otherwise any day during the week as I'm on school holidays, at this stage my brake guy is turning up Saturday (as long as he shows?).

I was machining the discs smooth on my VE V8 on the lathe and thought I'd post a pic for comparison of pad size compared to the larger BF pads going on my 66. BF is nearly 50% bigger because of the anti-squeal scallops.

I think they are Pete. Falcon's have always had bigens. The XY/XY were longer than the BF ones.

Re: Edz 66 Convertible
All I know is that Hoppers use AU3 callipers in their kit for big brakes because the calliper is 5 mm smaller than a BF and will fit in 15" wheels better.Pinto-Pete wrote:Ok, are they the same caliper though.? anyone know.?
From Googling, AU are single piston, AU2-3 and BA-BF use the same pistons for the standard callipers. 6 and 8 look the same but BA/F are physically bigger. AU1 use 24 mm discs, the others 28 mm.
AU1 V AU2/3
(I updated the pic)
AU2/3 and BA/F use same seal kit for pistons so must be same diameter. Then you have the Tickford callipers which are different.
