I would convince Hybrid to go 4R70 and use the spare micro squirt to control it and take his AOD.

though I just want to see the results/projects.... :poke:

No more work on my car - I'll just get this 11 sec pass out of the way and then it goes back to a cruiser that I never work on

Gbx78 manually shifts his auto now and then. I would think Hybrid cruiser would also on a lazy 11 sec pass. Maybe Cage you need a post to update your ideas/plans - on your thread  .

Apparently the 6 speed in the 5.7l 200 series landcrusiers is good for 900nm and has aftermarket stand alone options.

Just saying is all.

Finally got back to the car tonight after a week away, started putting the new column in a gave a few questions for anyone who may have put an aftermarket column in.

Is the gap between the column and the dash look to big? The mounting bracket can't go any higher without some big mods
Image

My other issue, the firewall comes back towards the cabin and because of this the mounting plate does not sit well, I'm thinking of cutting a section out so the mount can sit flush and then box it in, the booster will fit over the top so shouldn't see too much. Any thoughts?

I would raise the column as high as you can - the wheel needs to be higher in most cases.
Make the mods to make it neat, fit well and easy to maintain.

Column is going to a r&p so needs to be cut down so it ends at the firewall (25mm into the engine bay with the outer column). Yes it needs to go up into the dash a lot more.

That allows the column to be where you want it and gives you the maximum length of the universal shaft. That cuts down the angles to make steering smoother.

I will be home on June 8th if you want to call me. Reality worth not rushing into.

Thanks guys, I will dig the original column brackets out and see if I can make the fit the new one and get it to sit higher.

Another question, does anyone know the front seat frame dimensions of a 66 and a 69? I want the pony interior from a 66 and for some reason ours has the 69 seats. So I'm wondering how different the seat frames are and whether I could get an upholster to get the front covers to fit with a little bit of playing

If you have not ordered the seat upholstery yet, then just tell them what frames you have and they cut to suit. The stock type 65/6 upholstery will not fit the 69 frames.

I assume they are yhe separate headrest type and not the high backs.

Agree with Kerry and Boof.
Unless you're a very small bloke, that won't work.
Sit your seat in place and put a steering wheel in it, then try and get in.
You'll soon see the issue.

Could not get my column any closer. Actually have trouble removing the cluster. You're welcome to check it out and talk 67 stuff. I'm in Theodore.
