Also make the welds look like crap if you want it "authentic".

test fitted up the fibreglass on the weekend, gives an idea of where the headlight brackets need to be, thanks ozbilt  , much better understanding now. Luckily, from stories I read, the fit is not too bad for a first attempt. The hood and nose arent exact, but maybe they were never that great. :joy:

Got to thinking about headlights. I've only got the stock sealed bulbs that came with the buckets that are USA compliant so I need to change them. They also dont have the park bulb in them, as the park light (in the valance) has been changed to an indicator. Lots of options to choose from, hi/lo, lo only with high in the centre, H4 sealed or semi sealed, HID. Do I need another harness or headlight switch .? what are those who have a 4 light set up doing ? the '69 owners out there. Still have not seen a 67 shelby close up to go off yet or talk to the owner, the closest was a 68 at the recent Nationals on the GC (shouldve seen the fibreglass on that one 8O .) Cant find any suitable headlights in Ballina, none curved, none with park bulbs, Shelby ? what type of commodore/magna is that.. :argh:

Park should be shared with the indicators. It was legal here right up to and including the HQ.

Setting it up as lo outers High inners would be illegal.

should be lo/hi - hi - hi -lo/hi

If you are not worried about originality, I would go for H4 semi sealed with a HID conversion. They are getting much cheaper now.

Narva 72048 & 72050 are 5 3/4" semi-sealed with parklamp provision in the headlamp. Pretty sure they aren't curved. I've got the 7" versions & they are flat.
I know blkpny has a few different ones in stock & also ring Mark@Capital classics (not open Mondays)

I want to try for the curved lens this time (have the flat 7" now). have contacted blkpny, waiting to hear about the parklamp. If not I will have to go with what jas suggests and convert the indicator back to park/indicator. Like the idea of the HID for the outside and regular spots for the inners all coming on together with Hi beam. Should be well bright enough  . Repco has some HID kits in for $149 but only 3000k. From what ive seen 4300k would be best option. Would still have to relay the inners tho.
Will try and get the car ready for a drive in 2 weeks Dono, the club is going down to Maclean if you're around.

had some time off between jobs so got a bit done. Bought some globes, came from RKS in Vic I think ..they are the wholesaler anyway. Not bad, went with the H4 with parker to maintain the setup I have now and still be able to do the HID swap.

US globes that came with buckets on left, new 'autopal' globes on right

Lots of little bits hanging in a row,

fitted up the lower grill but not to sure if it's correct. Does anyone know if it goes to the rear of the nose support (where the holes are) or to the front of the support - which allows it to hang more vertical and more in line with the upper grill.

Car is about ready to go in for paint, except for the bloody great hail storm that passed through here yesterday, now they are all going to be too busy doing insurance work (including my work ute :argh: )

Have some questions for you;
I'm trying to match what is on the car. I think it's Acapulco Blue but not 100% sure. Went to the PPG supplier and they dont have a listing for Ac Blue (13357), and the one they do have has way to much silver and a very weak blue in it.
q/ does anyone know a code or colour that is closest to AcBlue circa 1967 ?

Tried the existing paint against some modern colours like VE Voodoo Blue and WRX blue but they have 'pearl' in them and throw more green than the colour on the car now (it throws red if anything) The other colour that is close is Mitsubushi Lancer 'Lightning Blue' but didnt find out if has pearl as well. Tried Hyundai 'Bright Blue' which is also so close and with no pearl in it.

The next part is how much to paint. The paint now holds up well for a 10yr old job, with minor fading in the clear coat on the horizontal surfaces. I want to paint only the hood and nosecone, because if I then add the horizontal areas (roof, decklid etc) then I may as well respray the whole car, which is $$ more. But needed eventually.

Maybe I should just sell it as is right now and the new owner can see that there is no rust coming through anywhere, and they can respray it whatever colour they like.

Acapulco Blue can still be mixed. I am sure both PPG & Dupont have the formulas. PM Steve (soc123_au) as he would have access to it.

Dupont say
Ford Acapulco Blue Met. D 3077 = GM 26/127A /F

Having said that ,I mixed sample of Lime gold to what they rekoon and it was a bit silver, but I used another paint system, which normally isn't known for a perfect colour match so I'm hoping thats the issue.
