Re: Suspect67
BTW, Forgot to mention, if you're gentle in disassemly, and dont cut the lighter wire, this is entirely reversible. I wasnt so gentle.
Nassi, that plug is only a charger. This connects back to the stereo, so you can use you're ipod etc.
If only the Custom AutoSound would work with iphones !!
Now just need to make the ashtray into an ipod holder ...

The nationals isnt about a car that is "in that league", but more about a car that will make it to and from IMO.S[_]SPECT wrote:USB charges the phone...donoauto wrote:Love it Birchy. In with the new.

Still have to get the caliper hoses made up, and its easier to get at it with the caliper off.. so that can wait.
I also have to check the XF Castor rods.. It looks as though unless I dial in a shedload of Neg camber, they dont want to fit, and inorder to do so, have to be at absolute minimal castor.
Might have to check against some 68 bars.
Thanks Tim (or is that Mike) for the trick spring compressor, works a treat.

Re: Suspect67
Are you having a problen getting the pins out of the plug?
Re: Suspect67
Yeah, should probably be more specific there...
Early steering boxes are a horses arse...
Got the column itself out ok.. only to find I need to remove the exhaust manifold to get the one piece box and shaft out.
Was Ssoooo tempted to just cut the shaft... but im trying to not destroy parts for no good reason. (and it was 11pm and I dont think the neighbours would have appreciated the grinder going at it)
Plus I'd had a biatch of a time getting the wheel off.. so was in no mood for stupid headers getting the the way of the stupid steering box.

Re: Suspect67
Actually that would be a pain, I was lucky with the last one I did as it was a 6 cylinder. Plenty of room there.
Re: Suspect67
Grant Wheels.. must be the WORST horn button design on the planet.. bar none.
This was going to be a WTF am I missing..
![Image](http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/rr195/SI_ISPECT/YNOT/Rebuild/Phase%201%20-%20Steering%20and%20Brakes/IMG_0110.jpg~original)
But then I worked it out...
The Mustang specific button comes with a different wire and instead of the spring.. you use some stupid stick on foam.
Put the wheel on..
![Image](http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/rr195/SI_ISPECT/YNOT/Rebuild/Phase%201%20-%20Steering%20and%20Brakes/IMG_0111.jpg~original)
Then the horn ring..
![Image](http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/rr195/SI_ISPECT/YNOT/Rebuild/Phase%201%20-%20Steering%20and%20Brakes/IMG_0112.jpg~original)
The foam pads are under this ring, acting as the spring to keep the contacts off the wheel...
Then the button just pushed onto the horn ring... Some glue may be required here I think.. will see if it has the notorious pop off behaviour.

Note: One wire install as its going on a ididit column, that uses a ground switched relay for the horn.

Re: Suspect67
Now, question for the day is..
Can anyone ID the brake pedal on the right?
![Image](http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/rr195/SI_ISPECT/YNOT/Rebuild/Phase%201%20-%20Steering%20and%20Brakes/IMG_0115.jpg~original)
I got a disk pedal from Mustangs Unlimited ages ago.. although this doesnt look right at all...
I've resorted to reusing the drum pedal and fitting the disk adapter that comes with the SSBC master and booster.

Re: Suspect67
Birchy, the pedal on the right is the correct pedal. It's hinged up further that the drum pedal. see mustabg steves pedal details.
