Re: Rob's Fastback
Just watch the plug angle on those heads your pipes may not fit. they may foul the plugs.
Re: Rob's Fastback
Thanks mate - i researched this- the GT40 heads have the standard plug angle. The GT40P has the funny or straighter plug angle which can cause header fitment problems if you are not aware of this.Shaunp wrote:Just watch the plug angle on those heads your pipes may not fit. they may foul the plugs.

Re: Rob's Fastback
Finally installed the engine and accessories - All wiring connected. Powered the electricals- no burning wiring or blown fuses. :rotfl:
Hopefully on Sunday will try and start the thing ! Run in the cam- and still be friends with my neighbours

Re: Rob's Fastback
Hello fellow spanner heads :rotfl:
just had my Fastback on the dyno to sort out the tuning after cam/heads and carby change.
nPpQhNKCBcY
Net result 165 RWKW. ( approx 214 HP)
Happy with that GT40 heads unmolested / Lunati Vodoo 61001 cam (mild) , holley 570, Ford aluminium manifold dual plane and Hooker longtube headers.
Enjoy

Re: Rob's Fastback
Nice one... always nervous seeing my cars on dynos, but really they are pretty short bursts most of the time.
Re: Rob's Fastback
Sounds good, did you need to change the jets much.Equus wrote:Hello fellow spanner heads :rotfl:

Re: Rob's Fastback
The carby was second hand- it had been played with. It started with primary 60 jet and secondary 70. It ended up with Primary 63 and secondary 60.Shaunp wrote:

AFR are now nice a stable throughout the dyno run.
Interestingly the dyno pull before the secondary jet was changed peaked at 160 KW. With the 60 jet in it peaked at 165 KW.
The mechanic said in general these Street Avengers come jetted too lean on the primary and too rich on the secondary out of the box. (The factory specs are primary 54 and secondary 65)
cheers

Re: Rob's Fastback
To all the more knowledgeable of engine guru's-
what would a guesstimate of engine horsepower for my engine-
165KW= 225Hp at the rear wheels.
I know people quote percentage losses but i would rather real world experience etc....
cheers

Re: Rob's Fastback
I think you'd be around 260-270HP in that case.
The Toploader is apparently a bit of a HP hog.
Bear in mind that if you put it on a different dyno, you'd probably get different figures too.

I know you can play with the ambient temps to skew the results-Maybe i need to run down the quarter for a more accurate picture of true power ???
