HI Guys
What are the views on overdriven options for a 390?
Gear Vendors make a unit but it is a bit pricey.
AOD is the other option but requires an adaptor plate (http://www.transmissionadapters.com/ford_fe.htm)
Cheers
Ian

If it was mine I'd go AOD, and then you've still got a spare just incase

GV is the easiest. Why an overdrive? What diff ratio have you got? If it's 2.8 then the C6 will be fine unless you want a go fast machine.

How many horses to you expect the 390 to have?

They aren't as a strong as a trick C4.
I've rebuilt mine with some better bits... I'm guessing 350-400 HP from mine.
There are some more things you can do to make them stronger, but then you'd probably be in Gear Vendors price territory anyway.

hi hybrid
I am only going for something pretty stock- say 300hp. I already have a C6, that's why I the GV is an option (but pretty pricey one).

The AOD should be OK for 300hp... just make sure you re-co it if you buy second hand.
I've got a video I can lend you if you go that way that shows step by step how to rebuild.
