351w should i or should someone else??

When driving around the other day in Cardiff my bro an i came across a paint and panel shop in the industrial estate. they had 4 mustangs, 2 Chev's and 1 camaro scattered around the yard and some inside the shed. :headbang:

one of the mustangs was a 1969 mach 1 with its engine pulled out... the guy said he was restoring the car but tossing the engine. the engine being a 351 Windsor apparently worked up until being removed and was thinking of selling it....

should i jump at this opportunity? cause i was thinking of upgrading in the future??? what are some important things i should ask him if i was???? :?

They are good to have (351W) but what you have in the car already (289) is more than enough. Build it like a K engine, then slip a 5 speed behind it. Love that solid lifter noise.

I would be concentrating on getting the must do's sorted on the car first. Engines/transmissions & other power ups can be done at any time down the track. Once you have a solid car start tossing the cash at that sort of thing.

I wouldn't bother. They are a tight fit in a 66.
You can either rebuild the 289 as Kerry said, or you can stroke the 289 to a 347, which is close enough to 351 while maintaining the same physical size.

yer ill keep the 289. ill find out how mush it is and put it up on here for anyone else if they want it then :)
