Importing engine - costs

Post by tim_morrison82 »

Hey Guys,

just wanted someone to review this for me...

i paid $800 for an engine, and another $500 for shipping.

it has arrived and the shipping agent has just sent me another bill for $900!

this just doesn't sound right...

i will break the new bill down tomorrow night. i should be getting ready for a wedding...

on top of that i just lost my job and pulling that money from my ass after being sacked on my holiday va email... yep.. thats gonna happen fast... FK!

I can remember being directed to him for a question about duty, but i did beleive i had already paid the broker before as part of the 500? I would expect for this cost he's sent the engine seperate in its own 40ft container, and packed the remaining space with unstamped timber! Next thing you know he'll be saying all funds on bill are in us dollars. How much space can an engine take up? 1.5m3? I'm willing to pay that fraction of a 40ft container for his efforts, but i'm not paying for the entire shipment!

Tim the 500 you paid was for inspection to make sure the engine was what was being sold to you, collection of engine and loading and fright to fremantle, none of the above charges are to do with california side of things the broker is seperate to any dealings as mentioned to you at the start, hence me suggesting to you to make contact and get firm charges, regards ken.

Its fine ken, i think the stress of getting the funds together in the first instance, blurred the rest of the process... Will sort something out.

That may sound right if it's a professional delivery with a main stream carrier. I paid $1,300 for door to door all expenses included for a complete engine from Roush in Michigan to my mechanics front door in Arncliffe!
