My 68
Well here it is, my 68 J code I picked it up in early December and am now into the dismantling stage. This is my first attempt at restoring a car (I know many of you have been there and look back with fond memories) I hope to do most if not all of the work myself. I'm planning on about 2 years to finish this, depending on available time and of course money.
A bit about the car itself. Its a California car Vin 8R1Jxxxxxx with a pretty wrecked blue interior (no worries i prefer the basic black interior) Not a great deal of rust, though i have found some in the front floor pans, after lifting the carpet I guess I wont be able to properly assess the extent until after its been media blasted, Though at this stage it dos'nt look too bad. It already has front discs I was well pleased when found that out. Any wayIi hope to post many more pics along the way, and to you guys who have posted pic of their journey, I have taken a lot of inspiration from you
Cheers

Hey Steve, great to see another 68 here in Perth - welcome to the club. Just seems that most of them are in various project stages and not actually on the road yet. Tim Morrison (on here) also has a J code coupe so you will have found a friend in him. All the best and keep posting pics and updates as you go and ask heaps of questions.

Tim and I did a basic course down there about 2 years ago and I definately used some of those skills in a few places during my project to date. For a couple of hundred dollars or so it would serve you well.steve851 wrote:Actually I do have a question (the first of many) Is it worth doing a basic panel repair course down at the Carlisle Tafe ? It seems to me, money well spent

Congrats on the delivery Steve
I also did the carlisle panel course 3 years ago and even though i have played around with old cars for 30 years i still managed to learn a little more that helped out alot , very recommended and fun.
