Fairstang Paint

Post by scott66stang »

I havent put up my Fairstang project yet, I have it all saved but have to do a bit of editing . My eyes are still very sensitive to the light after going to the hospital twice and the docs prodding and scraping my eye to get a bit of grinding metal removed. So being on the computer kills me.
But i just cant wait to show everyone the colour i went with which was my original choice over a year ago.
I have just done 2 light coats with no clear and will fix up the flaws that i can now see . I have the Lh door and bonnet to smooth out and coat with paint , then i will fit all the panels and put the final coats and clear over hopefully in about a week or two. If the good weather holds.
If i was a professional and good at final prep i could paint the lot in a day , but no matter how much i try i cant get all the ripples out , doesnt help wanting black.
The second colour for the stripes , dash and some of the interior trim is the dark silver you can see on the rear Quarter vents.

Dont i know it!!! its a huge hurdle for me , i know i have to fix a few little bits before the finish coats , but i can now see the light at the end of the tunnel. I have also brought a recon and painted 5.0l of a forum member so i dont need to do anything to my old NC Fairlane motor , just swap over the injection manifold and pullys etc. So after paint its pretty much reasemble and rego as i have all the parts.

Its looking great! if you ever need an extra set of hands to help get it all together let me know.

i know what its like to have owned one of these for so long you can't remember life without it, yet have never had the chance to drive one! so if there is anything i can do to help, i'm just down the road.

might need to do a reassembly soon myself soon if we are off to canberra...

at least i'd get practice! i would also try and see if i can put some of the 'spare parts' that came in the trunk back on the car in the right places! then bag and label them correctly as they come off later.
