Photos from Pitman Classics Family Car Day - Sunday March 4

Post by MachAttack »

A friend of mine lost his nephew, Marcus, at a very young age to an aggressive brain tumour called Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). This tumour occurs in the brainstem, most frequently in children between the ages of 5 and 9 and offers no prospect of long term survival. Most children die within a year of diagnosis.
His family have selflessly dedicated a lot of time over the last 2 years to fundraising for research into this aggressive form of cancer and have set up the "Isabella and Marcus Paediatric Brainstem Tumour Fund" . They are using their love of classic cars to help with raising money by hosting the event shown below, all proceeds are to go towards their charity.

Donations, great or small, to the charity can be made via the above link.

This event promises to be a great day out for all, with lots of cars on show, auctions and plenty of fun for the kids. The venue has cafe facilities aswell as a sausage sizzle. The organizers would like to build on last year's attendance and to see this event grow year by year so come on down and put your car on show or just come to drool over all the classics and muscle cars on display. You'll be supporting a very worthy cause and just might get your car shown on Classic Restos, with Fletch in attendance on the day.

If you have any enquiries about the event, wish to provide sponsorship, or would like to enter your car please call Tony on 0412 581 691 or Steve on 0401 845 483.

The radar is showing no rain so it should be a good day.

The guys managed to raise a whopping $14,000 for a worthy cause, a very successful day. The show will feature on Classic Restos in the near future. Here's a few pics, THE65 Buick won Fletch's Choice, it's a great looking car and I have to agree with him there. :

Looks very good, if this is to become an annual event, you eastern staters should pencil it in now for next year.

The organizers are looking into a larger venue for next year as they want this show to get bigger and better each year. The cause is very close to their hearts and although the $8,000 raised last year and $14,000 this year is an impressive amount of money, they would love to be able to improve on this each year as there is currently no government funding for research into this type of cancer. It was a great day and you could see they have put their heart and soul into it. They're extremely grateful for the generosity shown by all who attended and especially for Fletch, who travelled so far to help them get exposure for their charity.
