Website upgrade

There is a new version of the website on its way soon with some new features. One of them, I'm hoping is better mobile support, similar to Tapatalk (which is why tapatalk went no further after I wasted $800 on it).

To be able to upgrade to this new version when it's available, we need to do a preliminary upgrade from our current version.

I'm going to do that today after I do a few checks.
When the website is upgraded, my modifications will break. One I know for sure is Youtube support in the forums. I will fix these ASAP once the upgrade is done, but bear with me in the meantime.

You probably won't notice much difference once the upgrade is done.

What was the problem with Tapatalk?
It seems to work well on the yank forums.

This website doesn't use an "out of the box" forum.

Tapatalk has free code for pbpbb3 and some other forums, but for anything else you have to write your own code. I got some basics working, but didn't have the time, nor the coding skill to go any further, so paid a developer to continue. After $800+, they had barely gone anywhere so I pulled the pin.

I then spoke to the developer of this website code and he was going to write the code for free. After a couple of weeks, he said that they were going to write a new version of the website which could easily have different themes for different devices.

So when this new version is released, we will be able to display the website completely different for mobile devices. We can have a much simpler version of the website which displays the forums similar to Tapatalk, and it means you won't have to pay for Tapatalk either.

By the way - you'll see a new option now in the forums for cloaking users posts.
This is basically an "ignore" function where you can hide users posts if you want to.

Say for instance somebody regularly offended you... cloak them.

Well I just made a mistake then. If I (drunkenly) accidently hit the cloak icon instead of quote , can I uncloak them?

Up the top of the forum, you will see a link called "Cloak users posts"


Click on that and in there you can uncloak users you have cloaked.
You should also be able to click uncloak on a user where the cloak button originally was.

If you want to have a crack at writing a tapatalk plugin for the website, feel free. I can't afford to pay you though, so it would have to be a freebee.

I can provide you a login to my home server (Linux) for testing against a quieter website if you want to have a stab.
