Searching a thread - can it be done?

Post by StephenSLR »

Is it possible to search a thread here?

I was looking at one that is 52 pages long and I don't want to go through each page.

Searching the forum would yield too many results.

Not at the moment.
It's a good idea though. I'll look at how hard it would be to implement.

It will probably come with the next major upgrade anyway I would think.

The forum that this CMS uses was originally based around phpbb2 which did not have this function.

Since then, the forums have been modified a lot compared to phpbb2, but this functionality was never in the core, so it's probably going to be a big job.

That's surprising, I'm a member of many forums and every single one of them has this feature and I'm almost certain they had this going back 12 years at least.

I could be wrong but it just sounds unusual for it not to be a standard feature in a modern forum template, could it be hidden in the programme somewhere?

There are many different forum platforms out there in the big bad interweb.

If you can find a phpbb2 forum that has the feature, then I should be able to hack it in, but my searching showed that it wasn't available until phpbb3.

This website is more than just a forum, so it's no surprise that the forum isn't as full of features as websites that are purely written as forums.

I looked through the search code, and there is nothing to filter by topic - only category and forum.
