Looking good. Some quality cars there.
Loving the Charger. The firebird though (with the lambo doors) makes me think that its owner is about as straight as Hybrid's monte carlo brace.

Yeah it was pretty good for a small show.Cameron wrote:Looking good. Some quality cars there.
I was going to enter my Mustang but where I was the downpour was so heavy that morning, lasted about an hour then was on and off for a while. The sky was black with thick cloud and I've seen other events get called off for less.
I spoke to someone who was there earlier and it got very muggy when the sun finally came out.

The FJ is rather special. Impressive work.
I will someday think of something clever to say.

"IF" that is the car I am thinking of ...... it has been around since the mid 60's in that basic shape. Mods like tail lights have been changed since.boofhead wrote:The FJ is rather special. Impressive work.
I remember it at the Roselands Hot Rod Shows of that era. There was some neat stuff around back then, also very well done & most of which has survived in some form or another.
Those shows are where I formed ideas on design for the '56 F100 I built while in the US. Roselands was handy as it was only a couple of miles from where I grew up ......

Re: Autorama Illawarra
What a great post. I really enjoyed looking over pictures of the rods and the history involved. It is great to see some of these cars last longer than the owners. I only see our ownership of our mustangs as temporary (not that I will be giving my cars up any time soon) as we hopefully will be passing them on to the next generation. Just hope they become interested in our hobby and want them (and appreciate what we have done). Thanks Kerry.ozbilt wrote:"IF" that is the car I am thinking of ...... it has been around since the mid 60's in that basic shape. Agreed and thanks for sharing those links Kerry, it was great to see the Sydney of yesteryear.boofhead wrote:What a great post. I really enjoyed looking over pictures of the rods and the history involved.
It looked like owning a rod in those days would've been a lot of fun. It'd be fun to own one now in fact, lol.

Two guys, in the "custom car world", I knew well were Dale Fisher & Brian Horne. Brian now lives in Bargo, so not too far away from me. Brian had a wheel align shop in Chullora & in later years owned the garage/service station opposite my parent's home in Greenacre.
Brian & Dale built a couple of Holden convertibles back when they were almost new. Brian still has his 48-215 version, a 2 door convertible in sky blue, a neat car & still driven most days.
Brian's convert .....
Dale's car was similar, but an FJ 2 door with a Vauxhall Vagabond roof (from memory). Dale was heavy into Studebakers & 2 of his cars were at the last Castle Hill All American Day.
I had the pleasure of knowing Brian for over 30 years, a great & knowledgeable guy & also had the pleasure of teaching alongside of Dale Fisher at Wetherill Park TAFE. Both of these guys have forgotten more than I know.

Whereabouts? I went to Strathfield South High school in the mid to late 80's and remember that area fondly.ozbilt wrote:Brian had a wheel align shop in Chullora & in later years owned the garage/service station opposite my parent's home in Greenacre.
In fact, I got my licence and the SL/R registered at Chullora RTA.

I believe he worked in a garage/servo up that way. My brother in law knew him first at that spot before he moved to Greenacre. I have only known him since that move. That would have been in the late 70's when he moved.StephenSLR wrote:Whereabouts?
