Guess who...it's Q!
The story of the 69 mach 1 named Q
Re: Guess who...it's Q!
Marti Report
Lee, your 69 is safe at the Duggo Ranch. Now to do some inventory before I go back to the US. I will check it against what we have ordered so we can get most of what is needed for the assault in July.
Just off the trailer
Needed the Hyundai to help start the beast
This is "interesting", a pre production tag. Info I can gather so far...
PART NAME - Floor Assy Rear
PART NUMBER - C9ZB-6511215-D
Supplying Plant - CSP
ASSY PLT TOOL TRY OUT MAT'L
E.I. No - CZX1-PF_9169C5-D (X in a number is experimental)
DATE - 7.16.68 (Wow July 68, 1 month before production was due to commence)
INSP. SIGNATURE -
I will forward this to Kevin Marti to see what his comments are.
You can see here that no power steer bracket was ever in here. However the steering box has SMB K on the tag (16-1 power steer box) not SMB F (16-1 non power).
This is also interesting, part #'s painted like this are only found on spare parts, painted on the red oxide primer, not on a production panel that has already been painted. Notice the clips on the top of the door for the standard upholstery (the car had decore upholstery, another reason for me to believe this was a changeover car from a GT to a Mach)
Car has a 1" sway bar on the front (standard) & all the suspension incl the shocks makes me believe that the 60K on the speedo is accurate.
Metuchen built Q code 69 Mustang. Notice no wraps, that was common for Q codes at the time from this plant.
Kerry has found the remnants of mach 1 stripes on the leading edge of the door so we at least know what Q's striping will be restored too.
When the dash was out were you able to see if the build sheet was taped to the wiring harness? (from what i read it was the most common place for the metuchen factory in 1969
And here it is! Q's new chin!
We have colour....
The car was already stripped and we didn't touch it when I was there
Have they got the rest of the cluster or were they only doing the tach?
Q's new nos scuff plates
This one is for you Lee. License plate letters are spot on for the selling date of your car.
[/rquote]
Here is what my report looks like
Order placed - August 18, 2009
Arrived - 23 march, 2010
For all those that came over on Saturday, this is the latest on Lee's Q. 1/4 panels tomorrow....
Carb pics....

Hi Lee
Nice photos. Is that the roof going back on or before it came off?
Re the tacho, who is calibrating that for you.
Cheers

Re: Guess who...it's Q!
Looking forward to this one Lee. Can't wait to watch it transform. Am I right in saying you are going concourse with Q mate. Also you just hit the half tonne in posts. Very ordinary for your standards buddy.
"The simple answer is, even if I have decided I still don't know what to do."
Re: Guess who...it's Q!
That's a very purdy carby.
Yeah cage, they are going total concourse, and Kerry expects it to win shows.

Re: Guess who...it's Q!
Haha sorry cage im letting the team down!
Yep spot on im going for concours with Q but there might be some "inbetween shows" modifications which can be easily switched out (I liken it to walking around the house naked...no one else has to see it but you can still enjoy yourself!)

Thank goodness he did not do that here...Foresight wrote:I liken it to walking around the house naked...no one else has to see it but you can still enjoy yourself!
I would have lost the gay guy I sleep with (the one that is 2 timing me with Steve) to Lee. Now that would have caused issues....

Re: Guess who...it's Q!
Engine, gearbox & third member (diff center) has arrived at the ranch. Now to get the engine to the builder & same with the gearbox & diff.
Will go to the shed now & recreate the list of parts we need (last lot in a laptop that is no longer in my possession). Sorry no pics as I have no cameras...

Update....
I arrived to pick up your "small parts" order (all the bling stuff) about 1 hour before the parts place were closing for the evening. Wednesday 17th November
We worked over 30mins after that & had them all in boxes. Transferred all to boxes on a pallet at the dock (the next morning Thursday 18th) with the rocker mouldings in a large PVC tube to prevent damage. So that is there ready to ship.
Now I am back in Australia, I have more to order over the next couple of days. Smog system, drive shaft, alternator, headers & exhaust system, to note a few of the bigger things I can think of at the moment.
They will be making the same container.
Pistons & rods will be at the engine builders early next week. Ron (Lucy066) & I will go for a run in his Mach1 to get a decent amount of miles on it before it's dyno day.
