Can you use a home style sand blast setup for soda blasting?
I assume you can but assumptions can lead to the mother of all f&%kups.
Also any clues on where to buy the Soda Material.
The local paint shop here couldn't help but said it was expensive stuff.
Can I just go to woolies and by BiCarb Soda and use that?
Cheers
Shawn

Re: Soda Blasting
I was gonna have a go with using soda on my home unit but never got around to it , cant see any reason why not.
Stock feed places should sell it by the 20l bucket , well they used to when we were giving it to horses.

Re: Soda Blasting
I thought the soda blasting units were different. Read about it somewhere, but it was a while ago, so can't remember for sure.
Re: Soda Blasting
I set up a home made blasting unit, with a pot pressure setup, bought a Peerlees 15 amp air compressor ($1200), great for small parts, garnet and plastic beads as the blasting medium. Have done heaps of small parts.
For the whole car would go professional. Cost me $1500 for the shell to get blasted with a combinaation of soda and garnet. In hindsight I would do a chemical dip as soda tends to leave a residue on the panels and the claims of protection from flash rust are crap.
Cheers
