Planning your rebuild/restoration now in the Tech Shop

Post by ozbilt »

I just posted an article in the Tech Shop on my thoughts regarding a "Build Plan" when thinking about restoring/building or modifying a car. It is a basic format & by no means complete & detailed, but a good start if you are thinking about the journey ......

Obviously, plans will change a little when surprises are discovered. Also, it is very likely to go over budget. So make sure you have the ability to add to the play money or expect it to take longer.

Nice work Kerry.

As for cataloguing the parts, I kept the bits in Chinese containers group by the region of the car I took them off- made it easier to find that way.

For any parts I bought, I kept a list on the PC and kept them in part/ reference number order in a long tray like box. In this way I avoided (mostly) buying anything twice and could find the bits easier- the ones I had anyway.

AND, take lots of hi-res photos both before and after. So you can post progress on your forum build ;-)

The sane thing to do before starting a project is don't. Luckily many of us aren't sane.

I vaguely remember your "system" failing you Jacko!!! Didn't you loose some parts in your workshop after just removing them??? :poke:

I agree with cage,
I would much prefer to fumble through, stuff it up, pay money for things I don't need, get the shits,......then...
