NSW MOCA Members, Why is it you don't attend Club Meetings.

MOCA NSW Members ! So why is it you do not attend Club Meetings

I am intrigued, that a club with such a strong memberships base as MOCA NSW, has percentage wise a relatively poor number of attendees on the 3rd Wednesday of each month.

I myself found it difficult due to work commitments, which thankfully has now changed due to me starting my own company in April and not needing to travel.

I am looking for straight comments from you the Member as to 'what stops' you.

Keep it clean, post once if you would please, with your reason, add to it what would need to be done to have you come to 'some' meetings per year.

Regards Lance :help:

I suppose, just as poor as every request I have sent, to a variety of people on that Committee and Forum as Moderators's, to have Paul Clark's lovely comments removed, which has been met with the sound of crickets and a NIL reply.

Hmmm,

No MOCA members eh..

Then I will have to consult my Crystal Ball, I knew my Six Sigma training would come to the fore on day.

Too far to drive - Interstate trip.... As a NSW MOCA member based in the ACT, is a bit of a drive. Is there an acceptable alternative?
Is there a dial in option? Is there an option to watch the live streaming of the meeting? with any questions posted via live chat feed?

Also, how do we vote without being able to attend the meeting on the 20th? :like:

Hey Moe,

Vote via e-mail, you should receive an e-mail from the club either tomorrow the 13th or at the latest the 14th.

Will finally tell you who are all the candidates and how to vote on-line or by mail.

Lance, I will do as you have asked and answer straight

- work commitments would not generally allow it
- too far to drive as I live in the shire. If the meetings moved around and happened to be at Cronulla RSL then maybe.
- to be honest I bought my car to drive it not go to meetings, I have enough of them at work
- in saying that though I would attend drives if I am able but it would need to be with people I actually know and get along with besides just having a mustang in common
- also in saying that I do like to attend car shows (without a car at the moment) but must admit I walk around with my son and treat it as a father son thing. If I bump into anyone I know then happy to socialise but I am more there to spend quality time with my son unless otherwise organised to meet up with members that I know
- not interested in politics and agenda's again I get enough of this at work

Now don't have a go at me Lance, this is just my reasons at this time in my life. I also spend a heap of time with my kids sport and coach cricket etc so it is just how much can you actually do with the hours in a day and for me it would not be at a MOCA meeting.

Hey Cage,

I want nothing more that to understand all the different views and reasoning behind "Club Meetings" vs the needs and wants of different people.

And I thank you heaps for the words and way you posted.

Insightful. Any timeline on the Car?

Cheers

Exhaust should hopefully get finished by the end of the week Lance.

Then I can get the plumbing finalised, then electrics and the beast in the front can live again.

From that point on I can get it all put together.

The goal is to have it on the road by Oct 1 but that may be pushing it a bit.

Actually having a crack at refurbishing some of the interior trim on the weekend so that should be fun.

Loving getting my hands dirty and am learning heaps. I know pretty much every inch of this car now.

Come over to Steve's and check it out mate.

Not many here are MOCA NSW that I can think of. Other than the three of you standing, I can only think of another 2 maybe 3, living in the Sydney area, that are current members.

I have preached this for years in the USA & said it before at MOCA meetings as well as here on this & the MOCA forum, that the hobby will be lost & cars devalued if we do not encourage the youth into appreciating these old cars (whatever the marque). That starts with an interesting meeting agenda/approach & an RSL club is NOT that venue. RSL = old people at pokies & is not an attraction for younger people .

The "so called" membership of NSW MOCA may be 700, but participation is probably closer to 50 - 75 members. Now note their age.

I would be interesting to know the age breakup of the so called "700" membership & would bet the "median" age is over 50. Those that are younger would be members for insurance purposes (IMO).

The meetings have not changed in format (or boredom) since we first purchased the Mach 1 in 1989 until Carol (Mrsozbilt) resigned from the club in 2013.
