panel beaters advise

Post by 66STNG »

hi guys, looking for some advise from our expert panel.
.
I am in the process of fixing repairs prior to hi fill. I have hit a snag and need some advise.
im working on the left hand roof sail at present and I have found that it appears to have a bow in it , i have sanded area and have gotten to metal on both sides of repair .
im assuming it should be a straight line, ??? is this correct..
.
Image
.so the 2 below photos show the high spot.
Image
.it appears there is a lump just prior to the repair

.
Do I lightly tap the high section, where my finger is so to bring down this area????.

advise please

Not a straight line. Blend it in a curve.

No, the roof above it is low, so needs some more filler.

is there any chance that someone can post a picture of the roof, with a straight edge ( as i did) so i can see where i need to shape..
if i get a visual on what it SHOULD look like i might have a better understanding.
cheers

The issue for you is that it is a non standard join position. Just blend it & it will look fine. You are looking at it straight on, not along the line, so you will never notice any difference to an original roof.

This ^

Once blended out you wont notice it. Tapping it down would create other issues on the pillar. Everything you hit & move has to go somewhere.

Ok then, that's what I'll do, just so I don't stuff it up.
I leave the high section, and fill either side, then blend down and up...will this affect the style line in the scalloped section next to it?
The other side is flat and when you place the straight edge on there is no gaps,Or as usual out thinking myself and making a mountain out of a mole hill, to speak. I'm just don't want to stuff up the prep as it 90% of the paint job..
