Pardini's 66 GT fastback progress pics.

Post by Pardini »

I think I will post from where we are at now, backwards. I have made a few posts on the "other" forum before.

The fastback came off the rotisserie last week. The fully re-done diff assembly (Originally 3.00 equalock 8-inch) was hung back on. 3.55 gears have been swapped in. The original leaf springs were re-set 2.5 inches lower, new bushes, and under-ride traction bars. Koni's will complete that end soon. The brakes were re'done with the diff. The U-bolt's are the original's, wire brushed and "parkerised", phosphated at home. The diff case, spring/shock plates were powdercoated, The pink undercoat was tinted to match the original primer that was found intact covered in 40+ years of NOS ford engine/gearbox oil spray :) on the floors and tunnel area. San Jose built car.

It was good to see the car with the back wheels in again!

Yes, I agree. It is a pretty good feeling to start seeing bits and pieces go back on during the build. It actually makes you feel like you're makin progress.

Looks good Pardini... keep the pics coming.

Thanks Scott,

The codes on the warranty plate decoded for like this:

6R09A******

63B - Fastback, luxury interior.

4 - Silver frost (exterior paint colour)

66 - Black crinkle vinyl.

15C - 15th March 66 build date.

72 - San Jose DSO.

A - 3.00 equalock differential.

5 - 4-speed. (I my case it is a BW T-10)

I'm keeping it close to original. Motor (original, first time pulled from car) is rebuilt to a nice warm little solid lifter Hipo style.

Gearbox has been refurbed too.
Image
I have an original gear knob to put on it too at some point.
Colour of the car will be silver like it was. Here's a pic before it was pulled down.Image

It's going to have a shelby bonnet. It has factory kelsey hayes discs, 5x original styled steel wheels. Rally pac, long console. Changed the 66 shelby plex window back to original.
