67 engine mounts for Dart block

Post by lukep6470 »

So when I get the motor repaired obviously I'll have another go at fitting it.

I ran into a problem with the stock 67 engine mounts on the Dart SHP block. The webbing on the block fouls the engine mount. On the day of the first swap I just hogged out the holes on the stock mounts. This of course meant the mounts were now about 10mm further apart so it took a 2x4 and a baby sledge to compress the mounts enough to get the bolts through. This isn't ideal

Is there an aftermarket mount that bolts straight up to the Dart block without modification?

I personally would grind the ribs to make the standard mount fit.

How about the adjustable engine mounts?

Fit them, set them lower & machine spacers for the vertical bolts (longer ones) so the web is missed. Engine then is still at standard height.

Get the TCP mounts

https://www.cachassisworks.com/p-1861-m ... gines.aspx

You will still need to slightly modify the mount a little to make it fit though there is a lot of material so no issue.
I would not grind the block if I had an alternative.
I will someday think of something clever to say.

I have the set of the laser cut pieces for a DIY (from a group buy here ) and doubt I will ever use them now as everything fits and works well with my stock setup. PM if interested. The just need to be welded together

Hi just to put a spanner in the work in 1967 ford decide to change the engine mount and the engine mount bracket dont ask why when they realise the mistake in late 67 early 68 they changed it back to the 66 style witch they still used intill the mid 1990 in all V8 power cars and truck
when i used to go to the USA i use to go to pick a part and swap meet and bought all the backet i could get to replace on the 67 cars so it was no problem for the mount to fit.

By menorie the 2 holl in the engine mounting bracket to fit on the chassis frame the lower hole is more in the center of the lip about half a holl out the mount would seat moore of a angle so the engine mount was design to suit so in those day's it was easy to buy used one then weld and redrill the holl they where every where very cheap i use to buy them for 10 dollars a pairs USD until they realise the need and increase the price to about 30 dollars at swap meets

That is the difference between a BB mount & a SB mount. The top hole is in a different spot. I keep both here.

67 chassis bracket is certainly different to 66 & 68.

But I think you will find that it is the same as a 68-70 BB and probably beyond.

65 had 2 different styles for the V8 (that I know of), one was common for the 260/289 except the K code, the other was a K code mount. That K mount did follow through to the early 66, when the ones above were fitted.

Common 65 V8 mount ....

I am probably wrong, but that is all I have ever come across ......
