Just been looking for the best way to fix this problem, seems there is a metal bracket that is glued in with JB weld, that does not seem to hold for too long. Does anyone have any better solutions to fix this issue?

That top section is commonly broken - you need a new pot metal bucket (that has not broken / cracked yet).
Note: You can drill a hole through the lower part that has separated and use a screw into the body of the car to force it into place and hold it there.

I will someday think of something clever to say.

I just posted on the other site about fixing it with a screw as boof mentioned. Everything I read about the jb weld fix said it failed again pretty quickly so I didn't bother.
