Example long length intake manifold for torque engines

This is a great example of a long tube intake manifold which suites building extra torque.

It's certainly an example.. I'm not sure you could call rubber hose with clamps "great"

I love the principle and in this case the inventive approach to the solution. This is hot rodding at its best.

Then there are Works of Art such as this..

So what about tuning the runner length for pressure waves?

To be honest I'm surprised how much mid range I'm getting with my setup. I thought it would be useless under 4000rpm

Runner length tuning is very important if your looking to optimise your engine for the RPM range your looking for. The ITB setup like your are always known to have knockout mid range torque. You have the advantage that your running only 46mm ? (or there abouts) throats which further allow a high air speed at lower revs which is great for mid range performance. You can also set the intake runner length to tune them into the RPM range your desire if you wish. So for the exercise based on my calculations for the Voodoo roller 61011, 347, and 4000 RPM torque peak the wave lengths are:
1st wave = 65 inches,
2nd wave = 32 inches,
3rd wave = 22 inches,
4th wave = 16 inches,
5th wave = 11 inches.
The earlier waves are a stronger signal so they will be more beneficial. Hence the extra long intake in the first photo.
Your Brodix heads will be 5 inch intake port so your likely looking at 4th wave with 11inches for intake port plus TB plus intake trumpet length.

I might be close to the 5th. I think 11inches will be above the bonnet.

Something like the first photo would be cool.

Found this under a plenum the other day.. equal length not a concern obviously.

Not bad really - often unequal lengths are used to widen the power band (while lowering the total). Obviously packing in the engine bay has an influence as well.
