Spam.

Today when signing in I got a page which said "Tell_a_friend is a spammers best friend".
I closed it and continued on to the home page.
Is this an issue for the site?

Sounds a bit strange.
I've disabled "Tell a friend" anyway because most people know how to send an email if they really wanted to tell someone
If it comes up again, screenshot it before you close so I can have a look at it.
The text "is a spammers best friend" does not exist anywhere in the site code that I can see.

Are you sure the message wasn't this:
Tell_a_friend is a spammers beloved tool. Therefore it is removed
That would have come from the website since the "Tell a friend" module was disabled.
You must have been on that page before you logged in, or opened it some other way.

I clicked on the log in button - that page came up, when I closed it I was logged in.
So long as you know about it.
