Motorcraft Electronic dizzy and MSD Coil questions

I'm new at Ford dizzys and Mustang wiring. My car has a 351W with a Motorcraft 2 piece dissy with an electronic module (can't see the brand) and is running an MSD Blaster coil labelled 'run with ballast resistor'. The engine is currently out awaiting upgrade but I was told I can test it by putting a bulb in line with the coil positive wire to apply a load and check for 12 volts or 9?

It all seemed to work and run fine but their is no visible ballast resistor, is it hidden somewhere? Otherwise the coil will eventually burn out.

I am upgrading to a 408 and want to change out the coil to a better one (MSD Blaster 3 and maybe an MSD 6AL).

Anyone know what car this dissy is from (pic attached), I'd like to get a new cap and rotor and the first thing they want to know is what Australian car matches it? It has 12127 above the Motorcraft badge.

I'm also selling the old motor and bought a generic Chinese one from fleebay, the seller said it wouldn't work with the MSD blaster coil because they only work with points but the MSD site says they work with electronic dizzys (and obviously mine has!)

The old Ford's power ignition power supply to the dizzy was via a resistive wire. The wire, not far from the ignition switch, was a special wire (the insulation of this wire feels a little spongey) that dropped voltage over a given distance & acts the same as a ballast resistor.
If upgrading ignition system later, you'll want to tap into ignition near the ignition switch & run out a pure 12 volt feed.
Dizzy looks to me like a standard Ford one with maybe a aftermarket electronic pick up to do away with the points.

The wire Dono is talking about is pink and connected to the ignition switch via a bullet type connector only a couple of inches from the ignition switch.

Looks the same as the Pertronix in Mrsozbilt's Mach. 34T-V4 is numbered on hers. Been in there since '96 so a series 1 IMO

Is the dizzy ok for my motor if I want to add an msd 6al?

Should be fine. I would not personally bother with the 6AL and would consider using a later Pertronix module (aka II or III). I would use the II module and coil with a bypassed resistance feed or relay added to feed the ignition 12v.

I'll do that. I'll get an MSD Blaster 2 as well to get rid of the resistor coil. I like the fact that the Petronix 3 has a rev limiter, a nice feature! I'll wire directly from the ignition as I don't want another relay, already have 5 in the engine bay (2 x fan, High low and led headlights).

Been looking at fuse blocks as I want to get rid of the old mustang glass fuses, don't want to pay $25 for a set of old fuses when I can upgrade to modern stuff. Just need to rewire to simplify it and cope with the 3 power feeds going in to the factory fuse box. I'll do the ignition wire at the same time and add in a fuel pump cut for insurance,
