stock weight

Hi,
im chasing the stock weight of a 66 fastback.
Can anyone help,as I've found different answers whilst searching.

but its no longer stock so i can weigh bridge all i like I'm only gunna find out the modified weight.
Changed Engineer and he insists on knowing original weight so as to confirm modified engine is within rules .
Ive googled anywhere from 2500lb to 2800lb and can't be sure what it originally was.

2700 as the hardtop was just under 2500 lbs.

I have a 65 fastback and my engineering report says the unladen mass is 1380kg but that sounds awfully higher than 2800lbs. PM me your email address and i will send you a copy of my report and you can have a look.

This is new to me. All my heavily modified cars with odd engine conversions they only wanted the cars actual weight. I guess in the case of not upgrading brakes they would like to know the difference as it would affect the stopping distance. Rules change and I am not up with the latest. I have always used 1300kg as a base weight for early cars.

It will be to do with the engine capacity to weight rule.
It's always based on the cars original weight, not the new weight.

It's probably changed now, but I remember it used to be 5 x the body weight (in cc's) for naturally aspirated if the car was originally 6 or more cylinders.
So a 1000kg car could have a 5L engine max.

Silly rule. There was the 20% greater capacity rule and the 20% extra power rule. I assume they still exist.

Also, add a supercharger/turbo what happen to the rule then? I guess I should read it.

Edit: ok read it instead of 5 times its 3 times for turbo/sc engines.

Yeah, the ratio lowers.
The NSW law used to be based on whether the vehicle was originally 4 cyl/rotary or 6/8cyl. The 6/8cyl had a much higher ratio which made no sense to me. Going by weight makes more sense as the original engine is irrelevant, unless they thought cars with 6/8 cyls were built with more strength.

I think the capacity/power rule still exists.
That determines whether you need a cert at all. But the engine size/weight rule is the max values. You can't go above those; engineer or not.

So below 20% and same engine family, no cert required. Above that, max limits apply with engineers cert.

You could also argue that you could buy paxton supercharged versions brand new from Shelby.
Interested to see how you fair. I will get mine done one day when I have wads of cash spare.
