BTR and mega shifter.

Post by 66STNG »

Ok Falcon guru,s
It's a rainy day, so put on your thinking caps.
I want to run a B and M style type shifter. Standard shifter, not a fan of.

Box:- BTR 4 speed auto,
Now the rhd mega shifter from B&M looks the goods, the issue is that it appears that it only does AOD C4 T 400 ect.
Will it be able to run the BTR ie, will the detents be the same, can I modify the shift link on the box ect.

Or has one of you gurus already done it and can provide juicy details.
Oh and yes this is going into the 66 coupe I'm building, so it's on topic, not like other people ( Jacko) with there OTHER builds,
Hahahahahahaha

i would have thought it was the same - just need to get lengths right.
The BTR I was exposed to used a modified standard 65 shifter.
I will someday think of something clever to say.

The AU BTR was originally a solid bar, the B and M are cable operated, so just wondering if it will work. Don't want to shell out $500 to find that it doesn't work.
I wanted to run the BA triptronic set up, however found out that it cannot be done due to an issue its the first gear solenoid...

You can run a cable on them. The btr's in the ba were cable operated. Guys that retrofit the BA shifter in the ef/el's use the cable and just modifiy the mount to make the cable work.

I agree it should be able to be done, just concerned that the AU BTR was shaft not cable, therefore the detents may be different.
Anyway I was hoping someone had already done it before handing over the cash..
It will be just like he rest of the car, customised, or (pain in the arse),,,
