AJE front clip

Post by Husky65 »

Hey fellas,

Quick one. Does anyone have any experience with the AJE crossmember kit for a vintage stang.
Even if you don't, from the pictures can you pick out anything that you think would be a drama to get engineered over here?
Just researching ways to get more shock tower clearance without going to a mustang II style setup, while keeping it slightly cost efficient.

I can get it a bit cheaper than the price below btw

Never mind, just found a few threads about these breaking in autocross events. Cheap is cheap.

It does all look fairly "thin" doesn't it?

Sorry Dwayne, hopefully soon. i'll even give you a discount for waiting.

I was just looking for ways to get some of the shock tower out for not too much, which would allow that turbo kit. But I'll stick to my original plan now.

I haven't even got rear quarters on the body at the moment.

So you don't need my trans cooling lines for a few days yet?

Nah, I'm running this new cooling system for the rear currently. Doesn't seam to be overheating except for when the bog caught fire.

How much more room do you need, you can reverse the center piece and trim the pointy off the outside humps so there is just enough room for the top arms

You'd need at minimum 67/68 room in there, whatever that is (a couple inches??)
I have a feeling the adjustable motor mounts I have are the 1.5" drop mounts(which I didn't ask for), which is making it look worse as my hipos are pretty much touching the towers.

Put 67 - 70 shock towers in there. With the top section (where the fender bolts on) they are all the same tower.

Give me a call if you want more info .......

Mike Maier Inc. is producing this alternative now. Wish I had this option when I was rebuilding mine with the cleveland.

Yeah I've seen the mike maier peice, but the cost is around 6000 usd not including shipping or brakes....a tad too much.
Kerry, I'm assuming you need to use the 67-70 suspension and steering gear too?

Yeah and I think it widens the track.

What about 71-73 towers? are they different to 67-69, the notches in the 71 towers would give you a couple of inches more clearance.
