Cage nut source in OZ?

Trying to track down a local supplier of 5/16 UNC cage nuts...
Like those used to hold the top radiator bracket on.

Not easy to find on the web in OZ it seems.
Plentiful and cheap stateside, and of course AMK sell one (B-12024). But none of that helps when you need them yesterday!

The weld on variety are easy enough to get but not the spring in type. Funny as it seems they were used on plenty of FORD models.

There is a UNC/BSW cage nut manufacturer in NSW, but not into retailing it seems.

Anyone know of someone local?

They are used extensively in the computer server encloser/rack installations. If that helps. How many do you need, I thing I have some AMK ones,,

Try looking for "Tinnerman fasteners". That is what they were called in the aviation industry.

Think so. I'll have a gander in the Sporty's web shop catalogue. There's a GA maintenance guy just few kms from me so he may have them. No doubt exxy ex aviation, but might be worth a try.

I only need a couple. The are like $1 each stateside...

Still that's worth a thought if I strike out in OZ. It's easy enough to make the square threaded nut portion in UNC from some 5mm mild plate, and peel back one side of the retaining lug and pop it in. So you can convert them into another thread. But it's a hassle.

It's usually the spring part that breaks off on one side or the other.
The OD of the sprung cage is the most important measurment for this job.

I only need 2 to get this part done. If you can spare them I'd really appreciate it.

I might buy a pack of ten on eBay USA for my stocks later on.

(they make a UNF one too which is no use).
