Door glass seal

Post by 66STNG »

Hi guys,
I'm putting in new door glass, where do I buy the rubber seal tape for the perimeter stainless trim and the glass itself. Spoke to the mustang parts place and they don't reproduce it. I have seen on the net how to replace the glass and trim, but where do you buy the roll of rubber seals stuff.

Harry may have it. Avail in the USA.

Called uncured rubber strip. Never seen it out in Australia since the 60's as it would have been discontinued once doors lost the vent windows.

There is a post on here about it. I used to get something from Rare Spares here in Perth, we just called it liquorice but that was several years ago. Not sure what or where now though, hence the reference to an earlier post.

Rang rare spares, no good. I've looked in the US and it's readily available and cheap $4 a roll. I'll have to keep looking. Some one must stock it, I mean if your break or replace a window, how do the window mobs do it. Urethane it in maybe...

I haven't got time to search through for it now but I think it is in my Caroline build thread. I think it was called glass4classics.

I just checked my emails and it was glass4classics. It is called setting tape and was $10 a metre. They also sent some images and a write up on how to do the install. Family run Aussie business who were very helpful so I would try and support them over clarke rubber. ( No offence intended to anyone who has used clarke rubber.)

I ended up using some of the old rubber to space the glass and centre it. Then used window sealant to complete the job, came up good, this is what my window guy does old his old cars..
