My headlights are going out when on both low and high beam. Also getting the red pony light flickering on the dash, which is also making the tail and park lights flicker. They seem to go out and stay out so I can't confirm if it is high beam hurting them or not.
My research tells me it is probably the headlight or dip switch and I need to put relays into the light circuit.
What I'm not sure on is the need to upgrade the wiring from the relays to the lights. One site says splice into the loom only with bigger wire in the splice section and another says also put bigger wire from the relays to the lights.
Who's correct?

Re: Headlight relay questions
I've still got the relay setup from my 65 that you can have if you want.
Using an American Autowire kit in the 66 so don't need it.

Re: Headlight relay questions
Mrsozbilt's Mack has the relays spliced into the original harness. The only extra wire is the main feed from the battery (fused) to the "power in" of the relays. The rest is stock.

Thanks Ozbilt, I wasn't sure. The Interweb is not all truth....

Re: Headlight relay questions
I bought it shortly after getting, so it was only on the car for about 12mths.
It plug and play, and I've marked what goes where.
We've got an office in Wetherill Park I can send it to on the next load if you're anywhere near there.

+1 for this method. Never had a problem. I usually hid them behind the washer bottle.

Re: Headlight relay questions
The lights pulsing could also be a sign that the voltage regulator is sick. Adding the relays is a must, this takes the load of the light switches. If the pulsing of the lights continues, swap out the regulator.

Re: Headlight relay questions
Well I stripped the dash today and found a few things. It has a repro headlight switch and also a funky electronic voltage stabiliser replacing the original.
Also a repro dip switch with no insulator. And hence the wiring had been hacked about a bit.
Oh, and tek screws. The bloke who built it was no mechanic.
And confirmed that low beam is fine but once you put high beam on they start flickering. Sounds like a girl I'd like to get to know better but sadly not to be.
So... Dwayne can you put your stuff on the next truck for me? Looks like it will be neater than a home job.
