Trunk lid back gap?

Just fitted a new gasket to the trunk lid and notice the back of the lid is a lot higher than the back deck panel, never noticed this when I was working on the lid, so not sure how to lower the back of the lid. Appreciate any ideas.

Is it a Daniel Carpenter gasket or a Scott Drake?

That can be the reason it is high. Gasket to hard to compress.

I have seen them one and the same. Drake logo over carpenter.
Rare spares also sell a rubber spray that might help soften them.
I had similar issues with some of my rubbers. The original drake ones were way too hard. I think due to many complaints they started rebadging carpenter ones at least for a time.

If it was high all the way across, then yes its the gasket, but the sides and corners of the lid are flush with the quarters and sides of the deck top.

Maybe it's not lining up in the right spots at the rear?

Not sure of the make bought from NPD, it does feel very soft and seems to have a lower profile than the old one, so could be a Daniel Carpenter.

Yeah, I will try moving the lid back a bit tomorrow and see if that makes a difference.

If I told you how panelbeaters go about fixing it, you would have a heart attack, so I won't ......

If I was close by I would just come over and do it, but you do not appear to live near the Duggo ranch .......

So spent some time today doing adjustments and little to no improvement, so took the lid off and placed it across two metal trestles just on the outer edges and pressed down across where the support frames is connected to the lid skin and after putting it on and then off and applying a bit more pressure each time, it seems that It is getting a bit better. So tomorrow off it comes again and I will add a bit more pressure till I either destroy the lid or make a bit more improvement, fingers crossed. If I still can’t get it right, I will phone Kerry next week for the master stroke. Because I am running stripes over the car I need to get this right. I crawled inside the trunk area and I have to say these boot gaskets don’t do a lot in regards to sealing, so the gasket is not the issue. My main concern is petrol smell, so we will see how it goes.

If you look where the hinges bolt to the body, you will see they have adjustment. By moving the hinge down on the front bolt or up on the rear bolt, will pull the front edge of the trunk down.

Only move it slightly at first to feel your way. Remember that by moving the hinge on the body can narrow the gap. Careful not to go too far as the front edge will catch on the filler panel.

Yep, tried all the adjustments, the outer edge of the lid would drop lower than the quarter panel if adjusted too low, which causes another issue, so at this stage a will just try a bit of brute force. Can't believe I never noticed this before.
