It joins the lower seat pans together on convertibles.

Here's 2 more that people have made, I also welded a tailshaft loop to mine 100 mm from the front for Summernats. I figured while I had measured mine I would pass on the dimensions to save others the trouble of working it out if theirs was missing or they had to make a different shape one.
