So am I the only one who has had to install a starter relay?

Hi,

So since I have stopped driving this car every day little gremlins have started popping up.

One of those is the old "click then nothing" of the solenoid on the starter motor engaging, it has always done this a little bit (I've always had modern "small" starters in it) but since I stopped driving it regularly it got a lot worse.

So guessing the 50yo ignition switch was getting tired of switching up to a 30amp spike I installed a starter relay and the starter now spins up every time. When I metered out the starter circuit there was about 100 ohms getting in the way of the solenoid.

I'm going to install a 25A breaker on the high current side of the relay just in case.

Very common Luke. These are 50 year old electrical systems and prone to all sorts of issues.
