The dream is close

Post by 70Coupe »

Hi well as some of you know I am working to finish a 70 coupe
I picked it up last week from the auto elec and it is now getting headers, exhaust, brake and trans lines, park brake and all suspension and steering checked/replaced with good stuff and new coils 1 inch lower
Headers are made and on and I am just a tad excited.
I know so many of you have done this stage of anticipation before and it is so worth the waiting.
Still a bit to go but getting really close to firing it up.
As usual each stage costs more than expected which leads me to think that I should give up on the whole expecting bit.
Thanks to all who have helped me along the way

anticipation of driving it must be killing you.

I think I saw pics of that car elsewhere, very nice indeed and I'm not normally a fan of the later coupes. Good luck with it all.

Update
Well after 2 days getting it all ready to start I struck a bit of a setback.
After mounting the fuel pump I couldn't get fuel through the line due to wasp mud.
That was cleaned out and then I just got ready to crank it and the starter wouldn't turn.
I found something wrong with the power to the starter.
I bypassed that and it only engaged, I didn't turn.
My auto elec cranked it so something has changed.
I wonder if I wrecked it because when I hooked on the positive from the starter I touched it on the terminal and it sparked as I didn't realize the cable down at the starter wasn't on, it was touching the bell housing.
Oh well I got a lot done and what's a project without issues.
After getting excited to hear it I will have to wait until my auto elec is back to work on the 10/01

know the feeling.the engine builder came out to run my engine in
started to turn over..then nothing
electrical problems!!!
turned out the distributor was not earthing.had points in, electronic dist out, changed coils etc etc!!
then of course battery lost a bit of charge, and elec ign. didnt want to play the game..
grr, certainly never completelt smooth sailing when it comes to projects
